On 1st February 2004, the
Government of Indonesia implemented a “Visa On
Arrival” policy. Many nationalities previously
not requiring tourist visas now do. The following visa
information is correct as of 1st August 2005. It is
of course possible that this has changed, so we strongly
advise the group organizer and/or individual guests
to check with an Indonesian Embassy if in doubt. Pangkil
cannot be held responsible for any incorrect information
in this regard. Visas are required (or not) as follows:

VISAS IN ADVANCE |
| In May 2006, the Indonesian Government extended the Visa-On-Arrival system to include: IRAN AND THE NETHERLANDS. On 1st August 2005 a number of other nationalities were added to the VoA list which now also includes: AUSTRIA; BELGIUM; EGYPT; IRELAND; INDIA; KUWAIT; LUXEMBOURG; MALDIVES; OMAN; PORTUGAL; QATAR; REPUBLIC OF CHINA; RUSSIA; SAUDI ARABIA; SPAIN. All other nationalities require visas in advance from an Indonesian Embassy. This would seem to include Sweden for example. If in doubt please contact an Indonesian Embassy. Pangkil cannot take any responsibility for the veracity of this information. |

VISAS ON ARRIVAL
The costs of the visas in Bintan are USD25 (1-30 days, possibly more). The USD10 (1-7 days) visas are currently not being offered but this may change. Overstays: USD20 per day (at least!)
Note:
- These fees are payable in US$ CASH !
They usually accept S$ CASH but you’ll lose
a few dollars per person at their inflated exchange
rate
- You CAN NOT pay for
visas using a credit card (despite ferry company
advice to the contrary)
- These are single entry visas
- The physical visa sticker takes up one entire
page of your passport. Make sure you have space
- Your passport must have at least 6 months left
before it expires
- You DO NOT require passport photos (but
as seasoned travellers you probably have a couple
tucked into your passport for emergencies)
- THIS SECTION APPLIES FOR THE LAGOI TERMINAL ONLY: Obtaining a visa on arrival can take as little
as 5 minutes if your ferry is fairly empty. On a
Friday night on the last ferry it can take up to
an hour, so we strongly recommend that you obtain
one from an embassy (or catch a ferry before 17:00)
- Visas On Arrival ARE now obtainable at the port of Tanjung Pinang. There are negligible queues for VoAs
VISAS IN ADVANCE
The cost of a visa from the Indonesian Embassy (Singapore)
is SGD70 (1-30 days validity)
Note:
- This is a single entry visa
- Obtaining a visa in advance will allow you and
your group to travel to Tanjung Pinang directly
and shorten the end-to-end travel time to Pangkil
