The weather is the same as Singapore but remember you will be outside. The sea breezes are usually more than enough to take the edge off the tropical heat. In fact we suggest bringing a light jacket during the winter months, December and January. We are close to the equator so the monsoons are mild and we entertain guests 365 days of the year.

The majority of our guests are expatriates based in Singapore, however we often have guests who travel long distances to be with family and friends on special occasions. Our Singapore ‘jump-off point’ is Tanah Merah Fast Ferry Terminal, which is about 10 minutes from Changi Airport.

We value our guests’ privacy – and our own – so you cannot drop in uninvited. However, if you are interested in booking the island, we can easily arrange for you to visit.

We are often asked about safety and security issues. Indonesia is a vast, diverse archipelago with some of the friendliest inhabitants in Asia. It is unfortunate that international media attention sometimes focuses on negative issues. We are thousands of miles from the political hotspots. Riau is one of the richest and advanced provinces in the country.

The safety of our guests (and staff) is of paramount importance to us. Rest assured that we have good contacts in the local community at all levels. Our staff and their families are all closely vetted and we have contingency plans for all eventualities.

Mobile phone coverage extends to Pangkil and we have a large clinic and hospital complex in Kijang, opposite Pangkil on Bintan Island. Don’t worry, we will keep you safe or tell you not to come.
