For all of you leading
fast-paced lives (and wanting to slow down for a weekend
in paradise), here are the Pangkil basics in an easy,
digestible form:
- Pangkil is in Indonesia about 50 miles from Singapore
- Local time is GMT+7 (an hour behind Singapore)
- The journey time (from Singapore) is about 3 to
3 ½ hours
- Guests are responsible for catching a public ferry
to Bintan (a big Indonesian island) where we meet
them after Immigration
- Some nationalities require Indonesian visas in
advance. Some can obtain them on arrival. Some do
not need them.
- The majority of our guests are expatriates based
in Singapore and travel via Tanjung Pinang (a port
and the largest town in Bintan)
- The island can only be hired as a whole and for
a minimum of 2 nights (on weekends)
- A single group organizer will need to book, pay
a SGD2,000 deposit and act as the single point of
contact for the entire group prior to arrival on
the island
- We are often booked solid (on weekends) for 3
or 4 months out. Holiday weekends are sometimes
booked 12 months out
- Our base price is for 1 to 10 adults, so generally
you will need at least 10 adults in your party for
your trip to be cost effective
- Our luxury dwellings are called ‘Driftwood
Palaces’ as they really are built out of driftwood.
We have 9 of these of various sizes

- A typical group size might be 5 or 6 families
with kids. Kids of all ages are most welcome
- Sleeping arrangements with more than 30 adults
are described as ‘cosy’ and groups bigger
than this are rare
- If you try and book the island for an all-night
rave party with 100 teenagers you will be disappointed
!
- Costs range as low as SGD175 per adult per night
(for a large group and a midweek stay) up to SGD300
per adults per night (for a weekend stay in July
or August – our peak season)
- Unlike other properties in the hospitality industry
we generally don’t deviate from our list pricing
- We have offices in Bintan and Singapore. They
operate on a part-time basis. As such email or initial
contact via our Enquiry/Booking Form are our preferred
means of communication
