| We are an eco-friendly island. We gently dissuade
the local fishermen from fishing near Pangkil as we
are trying to build up the fish stocks. Our staff know
that digging up turtle eggs is a sackable offence
We have a recycling program on the island and we’d
be extremely grateful if you could use the obvious
and correct (glass, metal, plastic) slots on the rubbish
bins. Glass and metal is taken off the island back
to Bintan for recycling. You could help considerably
by not bring too much potential rubbish in the first
place, and, if possible, taking some of your own rubbish
off the island.
Our toilets are connected to septic tanks. You may
flush toilet tissue in moderation, but PLEASE instruct
your party not to flush plastics, cigarette butts
or anything else for that matter.
And finally, all laundry is done in Kijang (on Bintan),
so please think of the logistics (not to mention additional
detergent, energy and water) involved every time you
ask for, and use, a new towel.
